To the public eye, Sevian Ryker is an enigma... once a decorated Captain flying the banner of the Maelstrom, he was known to be unpredictable, but no one could ever have imagined where he would end up. After the original Captain of the Crimson Ranger was lost during the battle of Carteneau, Sevian ascended to the role with pride and ambition, bringing with him a set of skills and determination that made him ruthless on the seas. His penchant for sleeping around in every port, as well as his habit of leaving no survivors when he was crossed earned him renown and quite a reputation. From his bloodstained legacy, those who did manage to live to tell the tale gave him the moniker "Red Wolf", as he was a ruthless and fearsome hunter on the seas. He made quite a name for himself for many years under Maelstrom colors-- until one day he simply vanished...A year or so later, the man known as the Red Wolf resurfaced, but something had changed within him. The Crimson Ranger immediately pulled all Maelstrom flags from their ship and Captain Ryker was discharged from the Grand Company... some say he became restless, some believe he had a falling out with those in charge, but it was all speculation. What was known for sure was that once he was free of the banner of the Maelstrom, his unpredictable nature began to make him and his crew notorious for entirely different reasons. The Ranger began to plunder any ship that crossed its path, often found to target Maelstrom ships as much as Garlean... it was almost as if he was looking for something.
It was reported that he had taken over a secluded cove after murdering the Captain and crew that previously inhabited it, setting up his own compound in its place. Rumors about the so-called Crimson Cove and the dealings there have brought up speculation that the Red Wolf was amassing a small fleet of his own, with ships joining the banner of the Crimson Corsairs under his watchful eye. What he is planning to do with such a growing force is anyone's guess, only he would know for sure...Current rumors place the Captain near Shirogane where it is said he owns a tavern known as the Calamity's End, home to the Umbral Vanguard Mercenary Company.
